Changed lives in the slums of Nairobi

A field in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya, saw 4000 people gather to listen to Rev Carl Morehouse on 31 May 2009 telling them of the good news of Jesus’ love and healing power.  Carl was there as part of a 10 day programme with Don Egan and Alison Fenning of the RSVP Trust in Stowmarket to encourage the churches in Rwanda and Nairobi, teach at a Church Leaders Conference in Rwanda and talk to prisoners.

Carl said “It was quite a daunting prospect to stand up and address a crowd of 4000 people on the last night of our time in Kenya.  Many people came forward to receive Christ and for prayer for healing.  With so many coming forward, it was not possible to pray for each one individually and so we do not know at present how many were healed.  However, based on Don’s past experience, we will probably receive some notification at some point telling us what happened.  In the past many people have been healed and blind people have received their sight.”

Don Egan started the RSVP Trust which has a preaching and healing ministry both here and in Africa.  Don trained with the Anglican Church Army and was commissioned as an evangelist by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1987.  He is currently licensed by the Bishop of St Edmondsbury and Ipswich and is also recognised by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York as a member of the College of Evangelists.  Alison Fenning works with him and has a ministry to the women who work on the streets of Ipswich and to prisoners in Africa.
